"Just had my third bad experience with State Farm. This agent, Jim Phillips, has been attentive and helpful. However, the agent has totally failed to help me with poor and dishonest service from the parent company.
My car was sideswiped last week on the freeway. I called my agent and was told I could choose any repair shop. I choose Mulroy’s near my home because they are “in State Farm’s Network. “
The agent specifically explained that State Farm would pay Mulroy’s directly. I would “only need to pay the deductible.” “Mulroy’s will deal with State Farm” he said.
NOT SO! I went to pick up my car. Mulroy’s could not release my car until I paid THE ENTIRE COST OF THE REPAIR. My deductible is $250. I had to pay $1,535.52 to get my car back.
Supposedly, “the check is in the mail.” Mailed eight days ago and still not here. Yeah, right!
Then another bad surprise. After I paid for the entire repair, I found that only half the work was done. Damage to my side mirror and a front body panel was still raw and untouched.
I had used the Statefarm app to report my damage. Mistake! State Farm ignored half of the photos that I sent.
Mulroy’s Body Shop tells me State Farm probably will not cover it. Or maybe only cover damage to the side mirror but not the body panel. Something about “the scratch is the wrong color. If it had been brown like the rear panel damage, they would have probably covered it.” WRONG COLOR?!?!
I am calling Amica right away. Without going on and on, this is my third bad experience with State Farm. Consumer Reports found that Amica has higher customer satisfaction.
I guess I will find out."

"I had State Farm for many years and they have been great! when it came time for home owners insurance It seemed to be the obvious choice The quote I received was ridiculous over double what all other quotes I received was, with the same coverage! So I wasn't going to waste my time trying to negotiate it. And left it at that and the agent never followed up or touched based until It came to me cancelling my Insurnace. I had to call multiple times to get it finalized. Overall a very poor experience for a long time customer"
